Is your A/C system not working?

If A/C systems are not maintained, they may clog and drip, reducing the performance of the heating and cooling systems. Heating and cooling systems may eventually break with use. Your A/C system will continue to run at its best with routine maintenance.

Signs that your air conditioning system may be in trouble:

  • If your air conditioner only blows slightly cooler air than the outside air.
  • Incoming air smells damp, musty, or like mold
  • Your cabin does not warm up in cold weather or is only slightly warmer than the outside temperature.
  • The defroster takes longer to operate than usual, or it does not operate at all.
  • Your heater or air conditioner only works when you’re driving and not when you’re idling, or it stops blowing when you stop driving.
  • Your heating system is blowing cold air, or your air conditioner is blowing warm air.
  • Low airflow even at maximum fan speed.

  • Inspecting internal controls and the blower
  • Checking the operating temperature of the radiator coolant, the hoses, the radiator cap’s pressure, and the thermostat.
  • Looking at the belt on the compressor
  • Looking for leaks or other damage in the system and seals.
  • A cooling system pressure test
  • Verifying the A/C pressure meets manufacturer specifications
  • Measuring the interior vent air temperature
